Since 1983, led by a team that is over 95% Afghan, our dedicated staff have worked with millions of families in some of the poorest and most remote communities in Afghanistan. With our deep understanding of local, cultural and ethnic issues and our community-led approach, we have earned great trust and respect among the communities we serve throughout our 4 decades of service.

We know the key to transforming rural communities in Afghanistan lies in the untapped potential of some of the most marginalised members of society. Recognising this, our programming particularly target households that are most at risk – including women-headed families, or households with elderly, chronically ill or disabled family members. Decades of research, and our own experience, shows that where marginalised people are directly involved, communities become more inclusive, prosperous, and strong.
